Arlington, Va., — September 30, 2024 — In a powerful response to the ongoing impact of war on education, ECDC is pleased to announce the launch of a fundraising campaign aimed at rehabilitating Golgolo Elementary School, which was severely damaged by conflict in Tigray, Ethiopia. Our goal is to restore this vital institution, ensuring that the children of Ethiopia can once again have access to a safe, quality education.
In July 2022, ECDC’s affiliate Acculturation for Justice, Access and Peace Outreach (AJAPO), resettled a Congolese family of five, and the eldest son Jean Mupeta has flourished both personally and academically in his new environment.
Brattleboro, Vt. – Kamila, once beloved in her Afghan neighborhood for her delicious home-cooked meals, had to flee her homeland when the Taliban took control. After resettling in Brattleboro, Vermont, with support from the ECDC Multicultural Community Center (MCC-VT), Kamila quickly brought her entrepreneurial spirit and culinary talent to her new community. With the help of a dedicated ECDC volunteer, she obtained her food service license and, with the landlord’s approval, hosted her first Afghan delicacies pop-up in the MCC parking area that same weekend.
